Meet Mike Brigandi…

Mike Brigandi

Senior Director of Grid Integration

Hailing from Winthrop, MA, Mike Brigandi was always intrigued by power and electricity—but more than anything, he wanted to play in a band. He picked up a guitar as a teenager and has since played on countless stages, with outfits ranging from his teenage metal band “Days Gone By” to the motley crew of music enthusiasts who lead New Leaf’s annual “battle of the bands.” (Yes, he did dress as Prince for the 2023 performance.)

In between all that music, Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at UMASS Lowell, which led him directly to a six-year stint at National Grid. There, he jumped into the deep end as an Operations Engineer and a Distribution Standards Engineer, gaining a deep cross-section of experience that laid the foundation for his burgeoning career in renewable energy development. During this time, Mike also worked toward his MBA at the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University.

After earning his MBA, Mike went on to work at Eversource Energy, where he spent six years leading a team of protection engineers—and added a Professional Engineering license to his quiver. In 2017, he joined Borrego as the Director of Grid Integration. At Borrego, he found an intimate and collaborative environment, and was able to build a fantastic, tightly integrated team focused on interconnection.

As Senior Director of Grid Integration at New Leaf Energy, Mike leads a talented team of Engineers and Project Managers that provide a wide range of engineering and project management services to both the DG and utility scale businesses. He’s a leader and a doer that’s as comfortable providing strategic guidance as he is with hands-on coaching. In building his team, he looks for open-minded self-starters—folks open to new challenges, who are energized by collaboration, and who know that failure is an essential part of the professional experience.

Mike lives in Peabody, MA, where he spends most of his time trying to keep up with his wife and three daughters—two of them identical twins. He still plays music whenever he can, and he would be thrilled to back you up on the guitar on any stage, any time.
